Sentinel as energy weapon?[]

So technically the Sentinel is an energy weapon (even though it uses sniper ammo) all the time because it fires blue projectiles, has fast bullet velocity, and can be charged. Literally nobody on the Wiki thinks that the Sentinel is an energy weapon. If it can be energized with a Shield Battery, than it’s technically an energy weapon. It doesn’t mean that the Sentinel isn’t an energy weapon ALL the time. If it has that property, then yes, it is an energy weapon. Also, the full name for the Sentinel (in the lore) is “Sentinel ESR”, which literally means “Energy Sniper Rifle”. The 30-30 isn’t an energy weapon of course because it’s a heavy weapon. It’s also an AR. Rampart’s Amped Cover does turn the projectiles a different color, but it still keeps the properties of the weapon the same, except for the damage buff. I bet you if Sniper Ammo never got added into the game, then the Sentinel would use Energy Ammo. TheKittyGuy16 (talk) 00:29, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

The Sentinel's rounds are yellow. It only gets energized if you energize it. It's called an ESR because you can energize it. In the context of the trivia, it's saying energized rounds are blue except the L-STAR. The Sentinel's rounds are not blue. Lightning Laxus (talk) 01:07, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Re-checked and yes they are in fact yellow. Only appears blue if they are charged. That doesn’t technically mean it’s not an energy weapon (all the time) however. If at any point it turns blue (except the L-STAR) then it is technically “energized”, so yes and no. It is partially an energy weapon. TheKittyGuy16 (talk) 01:22, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
I agree, which is why the trivia makes a note of it saying it can be temporarily energized. Meanwhile the PK and the Triple Take are always energized and the Charge Rifle fires lasers. That's why I felt it was better to separate them. If you want, I can add the word energy to the Sentinel while keeping it separate from the others. Lightning Laxus (talk) 01:43, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Agreed. TheKittyGuy16 (talk) 02:04, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
The ESR on the Sentinel's name means Electromagnetic Sniper Rifle not Energy. It's basically a miniaturized railgun which still fires physical rounds, its just run through a linear motor to accelerate it to ludicrous speeds of 5km/s. The energized mechanic is most probably just using the batteries to overload the linear motor to accelerate the rounds to faster speeds, which inflicts more damage, but it still fires physical rounds.
Contrast this with the Volt, which fires highly concentrated energy blasts, the Devotion and the HAVOC, which seems to use the same mechanic and the L-STAR which fires literal plasma.
