Editing question[edit source]

Anyone know how to fix the RPM sorting ? (make it number-al instead of character-al) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilias48rus (talkcontribs) at 14:55, 10 March 2019 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Can you please let readers know how? Ilias48rus (talk) 15:31, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
By putting data-sort-type=number in the column header. --ALWAYSFF(Talk|Contributions) 15:36, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Table ordering[edit source]

Continued from Special:CommentPermalink/36

I don't want the information less concentrated, I want it organized and navigable so the user can find what they want without excess hassle. I'm not going to respond to the rest of what you said because we're just arguing at this point, and I'd like to instead try to put some effort into looking at solutions so we can get both of the benefits we see in each version.
You didn't respond to this in my last comment, so I'm going to propose it again: let's put your version of the table somewhere else; I propose farther down the page in a relevant section, and there you would also have space to explain your sorting method so that people could understand it.

If you mean 'fast overview without knowing item's aspects' you've should point this from the start, i've updated the table with more generalized sorting. All the rest i wrote, was only an answers on arguing points you've made.
I do not want to post the previous sorting as a " ' tier list ' " because it wasn't an extensively calculated project, it was a 3min work which i placed at location that was missing an alternative. Ilias48rus (talk) 03:42, 15 March 2019 (UTC)
(by "without knowing items aspects" i mean coming here before entering the game, just to overview what it has)

Naming / Categorization[edit source]

Mr Pie 5 have you read the discussion at TheRunyx page?

1 day ago i was completely overwriting the main item infobox on 7 Days to Die wiki (about 150 lines (60%) of changes, it was an unreadable mess, described such in it's discussion page by other people), because the wiki editors was directly following the game developer's classifications and variable naming instead of thinking with an own head, after some years it became a huge pile of scrap.

Already for some time, all the item pages that uses it (~900), need to be edited (the correct data, but incorrectly written), so most of contributors just left it.

I've changed the column header from "Class" to "Type" not without a reason, it now refers to a wide norm classification that makes the used terms to mean what they do in reality (where they've been created, it makes it even not related to Respawn).

While its not something that can't be correctly described by the language, it should be described so, to avoid further issues, editing the names in the game's code are far easier than on the wiki.

While I can understand your reasoning from changing Class to Type (To me its like replacing a word with another one synonymous to it), I don't completely agree with the reasoning behind switching Pistol to Handgun. This is a wiki dedicated to the game and whatever terminology it uses, and that may not necessarily align with real world terms. It's better, in my opinion, to maintain accuracy with information from the game. For a end user perspective, it would be more likely for them to search the term 'Pistols' as they see from the game than 'Handgun'. I notice that you changed it in part to properly include the Wingman, I propose that maybe instead add the inaccuracy as a trivia point. Along the lines of "Despite being classed as Pistol ingame, it is in reality a Revolver Handgun."

Of course i'm agree with that the in-game names should be easily/directly related to the items on wiki, but since its more use-ergonomic and can avoid huge amount of maintenance editing, to keep the wiki in a predefined form that will support any in-game structure, i think its much better to make it so, and use redirect pages and notes to mantain the in-game names related to info.
Correctly using certain real-life classification and terms is an easiest way to make the public wiki have such form.
(i've repeated the points of the change, for they would be clearly described, sorry if it wasn't needed)

As I said earlier on my profile: It is a wiki that is about a game and not really compared to the real world. I'm not directly into how far the Titanfall / Apex universe is different from the real world. However, there will be a reason why pistols / handguns in the game are called pistols rather than handguns.
TheRunyx (talk) 20:33, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
This wiki is about Apex Legends, not 7days and not real life; while calling certain guns pistols might be semantically incorrect in real life, calling them handguns is incorrect in Apex Legends. The wiki is already in a "pre-defined form that will support any in-game structure", and arbitrarily redefining the game's language is only going to serve to confuse users. I don't see what "huge amount of maintenance editing" is going to be avoided be renaming all pistols to handguns, but the work of any sort of mass rename could easily be made negligible with a bot; if Respawn for some reason decide that pistols are now called handguns, it would take less than a minute to update on our end, but they haven't.
--Mr Pie 5 (talk) 20:51, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
You like haven't read what i wrote, at all, 3rd time: its not about comparing the game content to real-life one, its about steady structure and correct lexical meaning.
p.s. There is no any gameplay or other "specific reason" why the handguns been named pistols in-game, except of making the look more childish to follow the game appearance design, and it can not be wrong to name them handguns in-game, completely regardless of any aspect of the game as long as it uses English or other real-life language.

Mr Pie 5, if its so easy for you to rewrite value in each the item's template input, on each the item's page, and on each listing page, in case of the dev.s randomly decide to use other set of letters, because they are not following any standards or even logic, then great, but im not sure that you will 1ce/week patrol the stage of naming, for the game's lifetime.
Ilias48rus (talk)
I'm a bit confused on what you meant by that last part of your comment "1/week patrol the stage of naming for the game's lifetime." Regardless, making mass edits is fairly easy by utilizing automation, like said before by MrPie. I understand your desire to have a good structure and accuracy in a wiki, but in this case it barely makes a difference. MrPeachie (talk) 23:19, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
MrPeachie, The difference are made not by the only change, the matter is concept. As far someone ready to handle enough changes to upgrade/enhance some part without harm, its welcome to be upgraded (as its harmless and useful even alone).

Another ego-maniac Revision 00:18, 12 May 2019‎, the initial state doesn't seems proven to stay for me, reverter relates to double standards, nothing i can do with the administration that want to keep the retarded info form.
I just tried to help/support, sor. to users but im out.

Stats Section[edit source]

There are multiple issues in this section. Triple take, charge rifle, and longbow need to be updated with sniper ammo displayed. Sniper ammo needs an image file that has to be included.
