Ranked Leagues Information Screen

Ranked Leagues is a game mode introduced in Season 2.svg Season 2. It differs from the normal Play Apex game mode in that players are matched with other players of the same or adjacent tier.

Like the Battle Pass Seasons, Ranked Leagues has Ranked Seasons after which players receive a reward based on their rank.

Mechanics[edit | edit source]

Ranked matches play the same as the normal Play Apex with the only difference being the matchmaking and the awarding of Ranked Points (RP) after every match. In Ranked, players are matched with players of the same or similar tier with placement, kills and assists giving away RP which is used to measure progress to the next tier. A set amount of RP is also deducted for each tier after Bronze.

Starting in Season 4.svg Season 4, Ranked Seasons are divided into "splits". Tiers reset after each split and your final ranked rewards are determined by the highest rank you reached on either split.

Prematurely leaving matches (by quitting before your banner expires and isn't picked up, or if its picked-up by a teammate, before the two minute and thirty second grace period for respawning expires) will net you a matchmaking penalty by applying a wait time before you can queue up again.

Abandon and penalties[edit | edit source]

Abandon is defined as "defined as leaving the game before the match is over for you". This includes:

  • leaving during character select
  • leaving while you are alive, including drop
  • leaving when knocked down
  • leaving when player is dead, but banner is available for pickup and have not timed out (can still be respawned by teammates)
  • If a player's banner is picked up by teammates, and then the player quit within 2 minutes and 30 second of the pickup.
    • If they leave after 2 minutes and 30 second have passed since their Banner was picked up after dying, they will not be considered abandoning the game
  • When disconnected due to either server issues or client end, failure to reconnect within 2 minutes

As a reminder:

  • Even if you do not have a full team (either due to teammates disconnect/leave or failure to fill by matchmaking), currently you will still get penalty.
  • players will be warned via the menus if their leaving may trigger abandon penalties; if the warning does not show up, players are free to leave, subject to server's calculation.

While abandoning in both regular and ranked matches will be hit with a matchmaking penalty, in ranked leagues there are additional penalties:

  • a minimum of 10 minutes lock out from ALL modes, including Firing Range and Tutorial
  • Forfeiture of any ranked points earned, and a double subtraction of the buy-in. For example, an abandon in silver would yield -24RP (2x 12 RP buy-in) , while doing so in gold will yield a penalty of -48RP.

Tiers[edit | edit source]

Players are divided into six tiers, each with four divisions except Apex Predator where players are ranked globally via their current RP. The following table lists their respective RP entry costs and needed RP to advance to that tier listed.

Tier Image Tier Entry Cost RP Needed

Progression[edit | edit source]

RP is given to players after each match currently based on three factors: Placement, Kills and Assists. The RP given out are as follows:

Placement[note 1] RP Given Kills/Assists Modifier[note 2]
Below Top 10 0 RP 10
Placing Top 10 10 RP 12
Placing Top 8 20 RP
Placing Top 6 30 RP
Placing Top 5 15
Placing Top 4 40 RP
Placing Top 3 20
Placing Top 2 60 RP
Champion 100 RP 25
  1. Placement RP do not stack. You get only 30 RP for placing Top 5, not 60 for example.
  2. Kills/Assists cap at 5, which is then multiplied to the modifier determined by placement.

This means that the maximum amount of RP one can receive in a match (by being champion and having at least 5 Kills or Assists) is 225 RP.

History[edit | edit source]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Ranked series used to be numbered starting from 1. Since Ranked Leagues was introduced in Season 2.svg Season 2, this meant that each ranked series would be 1 number lower than the season number, causing some minor confusion. It was changed so that the numbers match the seasons starting with Season 6.svg Season 6.
