There are currently six Game modes available in Apex Legends: Training, the Firing Range, the Normal "Play Apex" game mode, Duos, Ranked Leagues, and Hunts.

Training
The game's tutorial. Playing as Lifeline, you learn the basics of how to play from Bloodhound and Pathfinder.

Firing Range
A small area where you and 1-2 squadmates can try out every weapon and item and practice your aim on multiple targets.

Trios
The basic game mode. Twenty squads of three compete on the arena for last squad standing.
Map rotation on Kings Canyon and World's Edge.

Duos[note 1]
All squads are made of two players.

Modeselect Ranked Leagues.png
Ranked Leagues
Similar to Play Apex, but with the addition of skill-based ranking for more evenly matched games. This game mode has unique rewards based on your rank that is awarded at the end of every ranked series.
Current map is World's Edge.
Modeselect Quest.png
Hunt (PvE)
There are nine Hunts this season, each Hunt completed unlocks a new piece of the Artifact piece, a reward and a new chapter in the ongoing story. Your squad will be dropped off, make your way to a target location, fight enemies, and recover a relic piece. Players have the option to play in squads like normal, or play solo.

This mode becomes available to players who come in Top 5 in a Play Apex match. To continue playing this mode, you would have to keep placing Top 5.

The only weapons available are shotguns and sniper rifles. Only Level 1 Body Shields are available.

Shadowfall
Killed players respawn as 'Shadows', and must seek revenge on the remaining legends. The last 10 survivors are put in one big squad together and must escape on a dropship.

Winter Express
Three squads fight to capture The Train in the northeast corner of World's Edge. Everyone has predetermined loadouts and respawn each round.

Battle Armor
During the event rotation, only one armor type would be available, and players would drop into the match with it already equipped. Players also dropped with a P2020 equipped with a 1x Holo Sight and twenty light ammo. All armor was removed from the loot pool, but shield cells and batteries, as well as all the other loot were still available. There have been 4 levels. The 1st had Common shields, the 2nd had Rare ones. The 3rd had Epic armor, and finally, on level 4, players bore Evo Shield.svg Evo Shields.

Armed and Dangerous Evolved
The only weapons available are shotguns and sniper rifles. There are no Body Shields available, only Evo Shield.svg Evo Shields. Respawn Beacons are also removed, and the only way to bring back your dead squadmates is through the newly introduced item, the Mobile Respawn Beacon.
